The primary trade union organization of “Turboatom” OJSC is an organizational level of the Kharkov regional trade union committee of machine building and metal-working workers of Ukraine. 4920 employees of the working members of the trade union and 1373 non-working pensions, the former employees of the plant are enrolled in the trade union. The trade union has in its structure 51trade union organizations of the manufacturing shops and departments of the enterprise. The trade union follows in its activity the Law of Ukraine of “Professional trade inions their rights and guarantees", the Statute of the trade union of machine building and metal- working workers of Ukraine and other normative acts.
Activity of the primary trade union committee is led and run by the trade union committee which is elected at trade union conference. At present Chairman of the trade union committee is Honored worker of the social sector - Moshenskiy Grigoriy Ohtisovich, Deputy Chairman of the trade union committee – Turchin Nikolai Fedorovich. The main task of the trade union committee is to protect labour, social and economical interests of the employees, members of the trade union. Achievement of the goal is executed through laborious work on development, acceptance and execution control of the collective agreement. The collective agreement is the main document regulating mutual obligations of the employer in the person of General Director and employees in the person of Chairman of the trade union committee.
The trade union committee activity is grounded on the basis of the prospective plans and widespread publicity that is one of the most important component of success. Chairman of the trade union committee, his deputy hold weekly day-to-day seminars-meetings with chairmen of the shop committees or persons who substitute them, where the issues of production process on the basis of decade meetings held by General Director, social and economical issues on improving the social amenities of employees (renewal of sanitary-domestic complexes, equipping the rooms for heating in winter, expansion of cafeteria and canteen net and control of their work by respective committees).
The results of the collective agreement execution, issues of health improvement of the employees and their members of the families, issues of labor protection and provision of the employees with overalls, special footwear and other personal protection equipment, detergents and special food are constantly controlled. The occurred traumatism accidents of the enterprise’s employees are specifically analyzed and managerial measures of excluding such accidents are worked out. The responsible managers of the enterprise are constantly invited to meetings such as Deputies General Director, Deputies Chief Engineer, heads of divisions and departments of the enterprise. Meetings of the trade union activists are also held with General Director. The newspaper “Turboatom” and the newspaper “Solidarnost” are widely used in activity of the trade union committee and shop committees of the trade union committees for more widespread publicity.
Work on health improvement of the employees and their members of the families is executed together with the social insurance committee. 121 employees of the enterprise have taken medical treatment and health improvement in health resorts of Ukraine including the vouchers “Mother and child” – 17 persons, child sanatorium vouchers – 1 person. 696 persons have taken health improvement in summer period in the recreation centre "Blue Gulf", including children - 94 persons, pensioners - 39 persons.
With assistance of women committee and assistance to family and school committee the children of all interested employees of the enterprise have taken health improvement. 96 children of the enterprise’s employees have taken health improvement in summer period in the health-improving camp, village Dachnoye. On New Year holidays all the children of age under 14 have received the gifts from the trade union.
The trade union committee constantly provides a pecuniary aid for the trade union committee members in view of hard welfare standards of the employees, assistance was provided in total for more than 1450 employees for amount of 269 thousand hryvnas. Besides, a pecuniary aid was provided for disabled persons of the 1st group who are in need of assisted help for amount of 164 thousand gryvnas.
The club arranges the cultural work among masses. At the lectures dedicated to the state and professional holidays the choral group, vocal and musical ensembles and other amateur art groups have taken their parts, conditions for development of artistic and musical arts of the enterprise’s employees have been provided. The trade union committee has executed work on renewing the equipment and arts inventory for members of amateur art activities. For these purposes it was spent more than 38 thousand hryvnas.
At the stadium “Kirovets” all the facilities are created for the employees to go in for sports, there are art circles and fitness centre. More than 300 employees and their children are involved in sport and health improving groups where they develop their sport craftsmanship. For the last year it has been trained 1 person – master of sport and 5 sportsmen of mass classes for different kinds of sport. The enterprise’s sportsmen took part in the competitions of FSO “Ukraine” and won the 2nd place according to results of the competition among the teams of Kharkov enterprises. In traditional sports contest of the trade union Regional Committee of machine building and metal- working workers the sportsmen of our enterprise won the 1st place and were awarded prizes and letters of commendation. Much attention is devouted to in-plant competitions having the mottos: "Sport for everybody", "Whole brigade to stadium ", winter sports contest dedicated to 75-years of establishing the plant, trips of sportsmen to participate in sports contests in the recreation centre “Blue Gulf”.It was spent more than 13 thousand hryvnas for renewal of sporting equipment at the stadium and recreation sentre.
The trade union library serves 2000 readers. The book fund comes to 50000 exemplars of different subjects and areas. The trade union committee annually assigns means for renewal and stocking of the book fund. For 2008 it has been purchased the books for amount of more than 5 thousand hryvnas. The library takes in many periodicals – more than 22 titles of magazines and 17 newspapers.
