In the 70s “Turboatom” is facing the new outlooks – nuclear engineering industry, there begins production of turbines for nuclear power plants. New turbines are operated at that time at the biggest Leningradskaya nuclear power plant. At the end of the 70s the plant continues increasing the rates of economic and production growth. It resulted in that in January, 3 of 1980 it was made a historical decision - to establish the nuclear turbine construction centre in Kharkov. Right at that time the modern name was given to the plant – “Turboatom”. Within the period of time since 1982 till 1985 Uzhno-Ukrainskaya, Zaporozhskaya, Balakovskaya and Kalininskaya NNPs were equipped by the Kharkov turbines. The most hard times for the plant, except for war times, came after breakdown of Chernobylskaya NPP. After that awful catastrophe all the nuclear projects were freezed, a large amount of unrealized products were remained at the warehouse, for the some time «Тurboatom» completely turned to production of steam turbines and hydraulic turbines. The parts of nuclear turbines for Krymskoi, Odesskoi and Karkovskoi nuclear power plants were remained at the warehouses of the plant. In 1967 there put a start of creation of high-powered steam turbines for nuclear power plants as an important component of the country’s power engineering. The plant has become a leading enterprise for designing and manufacture of turbines for nuclear power plants. Since 1969 turbines have been manufactured for NPP with a capacity of 220 thousand kW, which now are successfully operated in Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Finland. At the beginning of the 70s the production of turbines for NNPs with a capacity of 500 thousand kW was arranged that ensured a drastic decrease of capital outlays for construction of electric power plants. The biggest in the world Leningradskaya NPP is equipped with turbines of this type as well as Kurskaya, Smolenskaya NPPs. In the 80s the enterprise carries out the following growth and technical reequipment of production – new buildings, unique equipment were commissioned. In 1982 - 1985 the production of steam turbines was developed with a capacity of 1 million kW for Zaporozhskaya, Balakovskaya, Rostovskaya NPPs. |
